WATERWORLD TEE
$15.00 Sold Out
Current projections for global sea level rise by the year 2100 range from 0.2 - 2.0 meters, with more recent studies giving higher probability to higher end projections. Miami's height on average is 1.5 meters above sea level. Most of the southeast United States in the past decade have seen drastic increases in the average rate for sea level rise, in some areas being 3-6 times greater than the global average. At current estimates, it is very likely that large swathes of Miami will become reclaimed by the ocean in this century.
Some areas, once thought to be too polluted to host coral life, are very slowly being recolonized. Coral Morphologic, in conjunction with Florida International University, works towards identifying, studying, and growing these urban corals in the hopes that Miami's future, above or below sea, may still be one of a city of coral. 10% of each purchase of the Waterworld tee will go directly to this organization.
